An article co-authored by Tomasz Brzeziński and Adam Wawrzynowicz entitled, “Could the European Green Deal become a lever for post-pandemic European reconstruction?” appears in the latest issue of “Przegląd Gazowniczy” No. 2 (66).
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic significantly complicated the possibilities for achieving the increased targets for reducing emissions and transforming the EU economy as outlined by the European Commission communication, “The European Green Deal”. In line with the assumptions of the communication, the European Commission on March 4, 2020 adopted a legislative proposal – Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for achieving climate neutrality and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 (European Climate Law), according to which by September 2020 the EC is to assess the possibility of increasing the EU climate target for 2030 to the level of a 50-55% emission reduction as compared to 1990.
